Cartoon capers

Sorry, but I cannot get my head around all this nonsense about a cartoon in Denmark.

Once again we see the followers of Islam venting their spleens at anyone who does not follow their chosen religion, purely over the publication of an image of the Prophet Mohammed. What they do not seem to grasp is that within a democratic, free speaking and predominately Christian society, the people therein tend to have a lot of tolerance towards believers of other religions, whether they are Sikhs, Buddhists, Mormons or whatever. Unlike countries like Saudi Arabia whose intolerant and harsh regime is only tolerated by Western society because of all that black thick oily stuff they produce.

I do not see Westerners taking to the streets calling for the deaths of all Muslims after the beheading of innocents in war torn Iraq. In the name of Islam of course.

I am not a religious man. I abhor the majority of all organised religions and this is the reason why. Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't the purpose of all this religious bollocks meant to spread peace and goodwill amongst ALL mankind? I think not. It is just a tool used by a lot of fanatics hell bent in being a pain in the arse to the decent, law abiding people of the world that make up the majority of the population.

A good point made by Polly and I quote
But I have a question in this regard, and it is a genuine one. I may be showing my ignorance here, but if Muslims are not allowed to create images of Mohammed, how do they know that the person depicted is who they think it is? And if that is what the cartoonist claimed, how is a northern European nib-dabbler meant to know what the Prophet looked like?

I rest my case.

saudi arabia has an intolerant regime 'cos the folk there think that it's a holy islamic country. but then, arguments can be made about italy - being a catholic country with the most holiest city called the vatican that allow muslims to practice their faith freely. but then again, arguments can be made that them italians could actually ban muslims from comin in or stop practicing their faith altogether. but oh no, that's against the fundamental basic human rights. so who's to blame if the idiots amongst em muslims were to create havoc?

and why mohammad isn't allowed to be portrayed? the adherents do not wish to create any particular racial superiority type so that anyone regardless of colour can privately create an image of him as they wish - in their own minds. compare and contrast Jesus Christ which since the days of the Spanish conquest and suchlike making him out to be blond, blue-eyed and white European. and i thought Jesus was a Jew to begin with? so what's the white European blond blue-eyed image all about? to tell the natives that white Europeans were a far superior race innit, so accept the true religion - Catholicism - or die.

thence the portrayal of Jesus as a white blond blue-eyed European has been perpetuated ever since till this day. that's why they are all quite rather pissed about the cartoons - how could the cartoonist go about portrayin someone he has no idea about? and why as a turbaned "Orientalist", worse, as a *terrorist*? just because each and every middle eastern and other muslim are after all terrorists? to continentals who don't bother about anyone livin outside their boarders right?

frankly, how hard one tries, it is a futile attempt to make the other party to understand one's values. and we are living in dangerous times.

soz, krip. i meant to say: " no matter how hard one tries, it is going to be a futile attempt.."

oh and many years ago i myself witness - whilst having tea at Delifrance over here - this old dear with her family - continental harmless looking - who upon seeing a veiled malay muslim girl amongst a group of ethnic chinese, just kept glaring at her with a mixture of utter fear and loathing clearly written on her face. and i wager if given a chance, she'd go right up to the girl, tear her veil off and swear.

do we blame religions or the adherents themselves?

I concur 100%. Christians didn't threaten people and riot when the Vatican announced "Monty Python's The Life of Brian" was blasphemous. Same thing when the alleged piece of art, "The Piss Christ", was unveiled in New York City several years ago.

I'm atheist to the core, if that matters.

Are you as tired of this Islamic nonsense as I am?

You bet I am and thousands of us. Everytime you read the news, there are stories about some relgious fanatic ranting about "the decadent west".
If they don't like us so much, why do they stay here?
Why don't they all piss off to Saudi Arabia where they will be welcomed with open arms?

There's no welfare state or free NHS in Saudi though... And they have to do as they're told there, because the Saudi government isn't as scared of them as ours is.

Right on.

Creating hate and anger towards Iran and Saudi is our main business, we think it as great work, but really a very evil work.
