Nuisance calls

After reading birdmans post about the nuisance calls that can be the bane of our lives, I thought I had better bring to everyone's attention the usefulness of signing up with the Telephone Preference Service.

Once we had joined, after a short wait of around 28 days, the pain in the rectum calls all but dried up completely and if you do get one, politely tell the caller that you are under the protection of the Telephone Preference Service and that by ringing this number, they are breaking the law.

It puts the fear of shit up them and you never hear from then again.

Go on. It only takes a few minutes and it is free.

I can confirm that the TPS works a treat. We get very few calls these days, just the odd one from Pete or Sarah with very strong Asian accents.

I did get a call today. How many Bangladeshi's do you know called John?

I don't get many nuisance calls anymore: I think all the local double glazing firms have me down as a time-waster. I always drag the call out as long as possible by trying to sound interested, before I eventually say "no thank you" and hang up. I managed to keep the woman from Lloyds Bank talking for 15 mins before she realised what I was doing.

The TPS works fairly well but the nuisance calls I get are from abroad where they aren't covered by it.
